Mission:
Our mission is to reach out and touch those in the community to foster an environment of family, hope and restoration, while at the same time addressing their physical and spiritual needs.
Description:
First Baptist Church has an obligation to reach out, to share the news of Christ's sacrifice for our redemption. Our goal is to serve the cause of Christ through mission outreach. Volunteers use existing skills and learn new ones while laboring as teammates on critical projects to better the lives of people in need.
We attempt to maintain a high level of engagement for those who face challenges; especially in the Linden area. We deal with the needs and concerns of persons beyond the congregation, relating the ministry of the local church to the needs of the world through compassion, justice, and advocacy.
In the very neighborhoods where we live, there are many living around us who are not active members of a church. Of this group, many have no religious affiliation at all. We focus on how the church can reach out to people in such a compelling way, that those who are outside of Christianity are drawn into the faith and fellowship of God's people. With this aim, our ministry promotes church events. In addition, endeavors to connect church and community include our affiliation with the Linden Interfaith Council - a collaboration of different denominations united several times annually through worship, religious education, mission and social events and the Linden Interfaith Network for Community Services (LINCS) - a faith-based food pantry assisting Linden residents in need.
The ministry meets quarterly - February, April, September, and October on the 3rd Sunday following Worship Service. To contact the ministry email [email protected].
Ministry Leader:
Sis. Cynthia Dawkins, Chairperson
